...sure, why not...

chrissy needs to stop being a nice person.

although polish barb frequently says that christine is mean, she is sometimes wrong. i think that christine is TOO nice. so today, sunday, i was scheduled to work at my good ol' starbucks from 6am-12:15pm. one of the partners decided that he was "too tired" and "wants to go home to sleep" (seriously, these are his reasons!) and wanted to know if i would like to cover the rest of his shift for him. well, i was hoping to go shopping this afternoon on michigan ave (to buy some "professional clothing" now that i am a "health professional in training" and all) but since it started raining i thought it'd be no fun shopping in the rain. i was like, "hmm, sure, why not." of course, this means that i would be working (let's remember that i stand and move around while working) from 6:00am to past 4:15pm.

did anyone order a triple gran-day craziness?? apparently so! re-fills too, please!

as most crazy days at my starbucks, things do not work when it is busy. the shift supervisor whos suppose to "open" the store (even though we're open 24/7) at 5am did not show up until past 8am. one of our espresso machines were not pulling the espresso correctly in the mid afternoon; cold filtered water spout was not working; the cash-weighing scale was still out of order and not connected to the server correctly-- meaning that we must count our bills and coins BY HAND when clocking in/out so everything took 3 times as long... etc etc. so all that plus the colder weather means our lines for HOT drinks were out the door. and it is no fun when you work with partners who move in slow-mo. its like, whats the dealio, yo, move it move it.

why was i being such a nice person? i enjoy working at starbucks but today was just such a long, constantly busy day. finally, i left starbucks at 5pm-- and i did not even see my special customer! oh how i miss his venti one bag calm tea. then, of course, i "realized" that the partner i covered the shift for-- he said that he will buy me a beer or something next time-- this means that in order to redeem my freebies i have to go out with him again-- which i have no intention to!! AYE!!!!!

oh well, better luck next time, i guess. :)
