so i watched "about schmidt" (with jack nicholson and kathy bates) this weekend. good film, but i am not sure whether it was a mildly happy ending or a sad ending. any thoughts, anyone? is warren to continue his retired life in an empty house in his lonesome state? or has he found emotional refuge in the foster child-- and/or that he could still make a difference in people's lives? still, even in the foster child, he being so young still would not fully understand the life of an older man from a developed world....
