WAHHHH!!! SNOW! so much snow!! was this snow the first major one this winter? there was so much snow i think i had forgotten how to drive in the snow! swerving swerving! ahhh!!!
this weekend was a good weekend with lots of sitting, relaxation, and excessive eating. buurrp! must fast until... um... 10 minutes later! >:-/
went shopping this afternoon. ugh, its terrible; i think i started my post-christmas shopping too late this year. only sad things left!
on friday night went to dinner at SATAY (next to penny's on diversey) with cynthia and sara. hmmm, advice from me, do not go to satay. cynth and i were pseudo craving sushi but since sara doesnt really eat anything more exciting than california rolls, we opted for a place that has sushi as well as non-sushi things. BAD CHOICE. ugh! the sushi was so-so and somewhat expensive for the quality. :p the service was slow too. sara's fried rice was luke warm. if you want must have noodles/rice on THAT block, go to penny's and barb would be happy. or walk a few blocks to HEY SUSHI for sushi.
saturday morning was again very lazy. then went to my starbucks to do some visiting (hmm, no cute boys), picked up my tips and got my schedule. before that, i actually went to some frou frou floral shops in old town to find some frou frou black river stones for barbarini. oh man, these two store that i went to were fabulous!! they have sooo sooo many florals and greens; simple ones as well as exotic ones of foreign origin! gorgeous! unfortunately, they were crazy expensive-- this guy in front of me bought a sizable bouquet of lilies and they cost $135!! jebus, and lilies would last just longer than a week! on the happy side of news, tulips are here. love tulips. then went to starbucks- of course, the line was out the door as always; luckily as a cute friendly barista, i just walked right in, to the kitchen, had some free espresso brownies for lunch, then walked right out with my free chai latte. woohoo!
then in the evening the noverinis had invited me to go to one of their friend's dinner party in palatine. so i stopped by the little house on the prairie, pigged out on brie, some funny sausages, and wine. while i was still burping from eating too much, we got to switzerland ed's little condo. ed looks like and reminds me of some guy i probably know, but i cant really recall who it is. anywho, what a cute little place ed and his... rooommate (hem hem?) share. so clean, nicely decorated, nice painted. we had shreded italian beef, spinach dip with sour dough bread, nacho meat dip, apple turnovers and gigantic brownies. i was so full and for some reason my tummy decided to boycott food and i thought i'd be sick if i tried stuffing any more food in my mouth. whats wrong with me!!???
basia gave me yet another recipe book- so tonight i made this mashed potato baked with three cheeses (goat cheese, brie, and parmesan). SO YUMMY! i dont even wanna think about how much heart attack goodness is in that dish of potatoes. ahhh, i will be so fat!!
