too much work...
bah!!!! this was a weekend that i worked... 21 hrs. ugh!!!!!
saturday was a crazy zoo times 5 at starbucks starting at 8am. bahhh!! that was well before the match.com event began. it wasnt that we were short-staffed, we were just SO busy!! waaaahhh!! so that afternoon
was having two speed dating sessions at our starbucks. hahahaha. for those of you dont know-- there are other organizations that do this at regular bars too-- it is a "game" (i call it game cuz it really is more of a game than dating...) where group of guys and girls convene and eveyone meets and chats to another person of opposite for a few minutes. then SWITCH!
on friday night we were all thinking that oh there will be all these hot people coming in or something, but man, when the contestants slowly arrived on sat afternoon, jamie and i were like, what!? (even the hostesses were so so too!) i mean, its not like these people were ugly or anything; they are all perfectly fine. i think i just had these high expectations for whatever reason; jamie was like, did you see those people, even our average clientele are better looking than they are, thats why they are here!! granted that many very good looking people do visit my starbucks, still... in attempt to justify beauty for these contestants, i was like, no thats not true!! what if you are a very good looking person, and you just happen to be shy or what if you just cant find a fun person or something...??
yeah, but whatever. i just always imagined these speed dating games to be all that; after seeing parts of that, all of us were like, lame! people were one step above blah, no hype, no blah. i guess some of them get to take home very generous starbucks gift baskets. hmm.. after getting work, calammy came to pick me up and gave her approval minus some of jamie. we had to leave right away because she saw that everyone was less than 3 inches from one another at the starbucks-turned-into library on the half of the cafe (the smaller half closed due to speed dating). she has humanphobia. eh! we did some random shopping and then headed home to make guacamole for her friends winter doldrum party.
the party was fun. lots of food. some of these people were people that calammy and her friends had known since jr high or high school. sadly, i became very tired way too early (as i only slepf 3 hrs the night before and 4 the night before that) so i had to go home. got to sleep in today so that was EXTREMELY nice! yum yum... :) then erin called and asked me to go to work early. bah!
so there is this one dude that come into our cafe very frequently. PAIN IN THE ASS!!! every time he is IN here, he complains about how music is too loud. i admit, sometimes our music is fairly loud, but we almost always try to keep it at a decent volume and when customers ask us to turn it down, we try to respect their wishes. but this guy, he would keep asking to turn the volume down even when the music is barely audible. so after he asked if i could turn down the music and me making him believe that i had actually done what he said-- he got into this argument with another guy that was on the cell phone in the corner across from him. it seemed like guy 1 thought that guy 2 on the phone was too loud and he was disturbed or something. of course, guy 2 was very unhappy or whatever. i was just like, oh my god, can you guys please just shut up!??? after they were done after kelly intervened, i decided to turn on the steam wands and made more obnoxious noise to keep 'em entertained.
starbucks is NOT a library. yes, when people are too loud/unrespectful, you have a right to ask them to be quiet. starbucks is not a library and playing music is part of what starbucks is and people are free to enjoy a conversation, having a good time or whatever. if this guy thinks it is distracting to your studying/reading or you dont like the music background, this guy should go to a library or stay home. stop annoying us! stupid people.
