back to school... already???
ah, the dreadful unmentionable from a month ago-- going back to school in ft of snow and wintry freeze-- has finally come true. looks like the first class will be starting in... 8 hrs!!!
i suppose i will think about and update yall on what funs and pseudo funs i've had for the past few days.

let's see, this past week was full of visits to various medical offices. i decided that with all that money they make us pay to purchase the student insurance-- doesn't matter how crappy it is-- i should take adavantage of it. oh yes, did i mention that in order to get a regular PE (yes, clams, that's physical examination, not pulmonary embolism like you wish i had) and routine ob/gyn right around now, i *HAD* make my appt way back in the first week of november. luckily, i wasn't dying.
all was fine. my BP was surprisingly fairly normal or borderline prehyptertensive acc. to the new JNC 7 guidelines, despite the constant stress i seem to be under, all the unhealthy dining and choice beverage habits i subject myself to, and the lack of sleep. then again, i already knew what my BP was from all the play-doctor/pharmacist games we kept playing this past semester. they did some blood work in hope to determine my manly womanly problems; tomorrow, during a break btwn classes, i will have to go back for a follow up appt and hear the results. eh!
also got a tb skin test and tetanus booster. man, the tetanus booster made my muscle sore like a mother. i have always hated the TB skin test. since i was born in a foreign country 20-somethin' years ago when it was classified "developing," we all received the BCG vaccine to reduce the chance of TB infection. well, even after many years the vaccine still interferes with the normal TB skin test. in college i had to take a chest x-ray to prove negative in order to volunteer at the hospital. now, even though the skin reading has been negative for several times, i am always worried about the initial red and bumpy reaction that i get. luckily, i was fine again. just such a hassel.
the lens on my glasses also decided to chip when i dropped them the other day. weird, i've dropped the glasses countless times, slept on them, sat on them... nothing happened in 3 yrs til just now. i had to get them replaced and order new contacts as my left lens has been fitting weird. there goes another pr of manolo blahniks...

on friday, finally got to meet the fockers. they really are a funny bunch. i enjoyed the movie.
CHANTICO! i had to work earlier that day doing the store display; i just wanna let everyone know that starbucks has introduced a drinking chocolate, the rich, creamy, and decadent chantico. it's another one of starbucks' attempt to bring its beverages to a newer and higher level. it is to be enjoyed as an after dinner dessert, paired with rich buttery biscuits. simply said, "to describe its chocolateness will deplete the words of adjectives..." also, the winter phase 1 merchandise has rolled out. new mugs, new toys. chocolate graham crackers and chocolate bean are all on sale. there is also a heavy favor towards the asian FENG SHUI in the starbucks merchandise. buy a feng shui kit with your favorite coffee today!

on saturday, i was pseudo stood up again. ok, maybe not "AGAIN" in anger because i haven't been stood up that much lately. the last serious occasion was when some supposedly good friend turned whatever decided that she will secretly ditch our planning and go to vegas instead with her boyfriend. anywho, this girl that i met when i took a course at north park univ before pharm school somehow found me again via email. she's been wanting to catchup and get back in touch or whatever ever since. i decided to ask if she wanted to have dinn on sat night. she sounded enthusiastic about it, but never returned my email or phone call. never. stupid 21yr old.
since i had been cleaning my apt all afternoon in peace, i decided that it'd be okay and i can just stay home like a proper girl and work on my drug cards. then sharon called around 8:30 and asked if i wanted to go out cuz she's had a rough day from the previous night and needed to get out and discuss her pseudo man problems. hmmm, okay. hence began our adventure of funny night...
we decided to have dinn at cafe iberico. allen had decided to meet us there despite his not-so-happy day. ok, whatever. as always, the place was packed, and the wait for a table was 3 hrs. i have never heard of anything like that. hahah! as with cheesecake factory (guys, lesson i learned 5 yrs ago, never wait for a table at downtown cheesecake on wknds, just snatch one of the tables at the bar area!!!!), we pretty soon got a table in the bar area with our happy sangria. then allen ran into a girl from x-sport, who had just gotten off work.
luz said that there were sooo many people, and she had just gotten off work at x-sport and wanted to grab some quick tapas before meeting her friends. sharon and i just invited her to sit with us, as we were waiting for more friends as well. what a nice girl, and fun too! turns out that she also lives in our hood around diversey. she already invited us to her party this friday, and hot latino men promised! woohooo!
then her friend gloria came. this woman's crazy. 44 yrs old and still parties like she's trying to turn 21. she has a hair salon on diversey and does very affordable haircuts!! then two more of luz's friends, jovana (or yolana or something) and manuel joined us. all quite fun. all this time at dinn sharon was trying to make sense out of the dates she had with this dude she met recently from funky buddha. good first date, so so kinda boring second, nervousness, short text messages... etc. i swear, this girl thinks too much. oh well, who am i to say, miss let-me-over-analyze-everything.
finally, all of us (allen had to go home early) decided to go back to funky buddha, since sharon's man said that he's going there. sigh... she was gone within seconds after we got there ;), and so was gloria, the wild one; i still had fun with rest of the "new friends." it was such an interesting evening, meeting all these people randomly and having a good time partying with them. full of surprising strangers-- i like that!

too bad i woke up with an aweful, splitting headache and had to remain bed-ridden and stomach-twisting until almost 3pm. ran into sharon again at the gym, and had dinn with her at the rice box. how fun.
sadly, this week (despite the working nights) i cannot go out. i promised myself to come home directly after school and go straight to drug cards. BAAAHHHH!!!
