what the gymmee !
yes, i am updating my bloggers right now as i listen to this cystic fibrosis audio autobiography that we were told to listen to (in order to answer questions regarding the chronic illness trajectory model) for our social pharm exam this thursday. what the... so boring. blah blah. if my boring life were ever a devastating disease, would people find me writing meaningless, senseless sentences such as these interesting and educational?? stace, you can answer this question...
hmmm, this week i finally took myself to start bicycle shopping, to continue my pseudo training for the danskin triathlon. heh. i just went to the bikeshop, on the route, near my apt, just down the street. for those that wish to compare/contrast, i suppose this place is kinda like fleet feet for bikers-- a small store but with many specialized items and friendly staff. well, no ffb. since i dont know or remember anything about bikes, i just basically went to see what they have to say to me.
i was trying to decide whether to purchase something like a road bike or a hybrid. i suppose from what i heard and learned, road bikes are better for racing (of course!) and for training, but hybrids are bit more chicago streets friendly as they are slightly heavier and such. pharmie wendy told me that she bought a hybrid for her tri's last year and even though it worked perfectly well she now wishes that she had just spent the money for a road bike as all the upgrades she may want to do and has done for riding efficiency, it is more worth while to just buy a road bike as she is trying to improve. so, she's gonna buy a road bike now regardless. now i am leaning towards a road bike but man, they are F-ing expensive. of course, i would just get an entry-level type, but its just so weird comparing the price range i can afford to the "average" price or better models of road bikes at bikeshops. its like... trying on UNLISTED brand and BAGLEY MISCHKA evening shoes at the same shoe store.
the pseudo rock star look-alike boy michael at on the route was very friendly and patiently explained bikes to me. awww, heart. he was enjoyable in the scruffy, cyclist sort of way. mmmm, height and tight jeans. maybe he reminded me of a younger, cuter Edge from U2. too bad i am short and stout. i tried on two road bikes. they are both nice and they have slight differences and feel on the road, but since i dont know anything i could not pinpoint which one will be more suitable for me...

from what mikey said, as far as entry level bikes go, the brava (the blue one) is a *slightly* better bike but the two are really VERY comparable in terms of quality. since it's a 2004, there's more of a markdown (the onsale prices are almost same), and the trek 1000 is... well... ORANGE. awww... mikey.
tomorrow night we are having a lesson on bike mechanics and such at the PCTri so hopefully i will learn enough to decide or pick something else soon.
yes, very well... moving right along. i had my worst pseudo clubbing experience EVER this saturday. ugh! i was RECONFIRMED AGAIN (for the one millionth time) that i no longer enjoy clubbing and that im glad to have grown out of it since 22. the random hookups were fun but now the crowd and the stupidness just annoy the hell out of me. we tried going to some LAME place called RESERVE in the ghetto (lake/halsted-ish) as a new friend told us that we are all on the list for some bartender friend of hers that works at the club. she went earlier as she heard that it gets crowded. we went earlier and dude, so many people and there might as be no line since people were cutting. well, apparently the "list" is less important than these so-called table reservations as we fought other non-list people to the front of line. hell, we waited so long, i got so annoyed and was just like, duuude im freakin' leaving. there really are only 3, 4 people i have had fun clubbing with and since they dont live in chicago, i have no reason to be persuaded to go clubbing again with people i dont have fun with. ugh!! better stick with fancy lounges or jock bars depending on the mood.
today, sunday, was just gorgeous out. i left work early and enjoyed a nice run outside. whooo! my calves had been so tight though, and it wasn't until like 2, 3 miles into the run when they began to warm up and relax. sucks. by then my lungs were already collapsing and was time to finish up. sucks. better run a half marathon next time.
