and work resumes...

whew, what a wkend lacking much fun and luster; it almost makes me more than sad that im glad that it is coming to an end!!! after living on my own for a while, i have come to understand why people sometimes feel extra lonely around the holiday(s). as much as my parents irritate me after spending too much time with them; the holidays is always about the family! family BBQs, friendly BBQs, family brunches, family trips... etc. it almost made me miss my parents, especially when i did absolutely nothing this wknd.

friday i went to this bar, big joe's 2&6 pub for this friend's b-day party. i met this chick when i retook my organic chem course at north park univ before i started pharm school. awww, back in the days when we were young. :p anywho, i hadnt seen or talked to her in ages, so i thought it'd be nice to stop by. besides, i was intrigued by this "turtle race" they had going on. basically, every drink you purchase, you receive some tickets with numbers on them. every half hr (or 15min? cant remember) they draw 6 numbers and the winners to get to represent a turtle (yes, a REAL turtle). the turtle are then placed at the center of a table and whichever can run/reach the perimeter first wins! the winner gets a free shirt, free drink, and some other goodies. quite interesting.

also very interestingly, i met this other girl, who has two sisters both going to uic pharm (one is a rising P4, the other P2), and the P2 sister is actually in kappa psi with me!!! then, this other sorta fobby guy from my class also showed up! apparently he's friends with heather's friend! he's a guy that i never talk to while in school, but i see him around or see other people i know hanging out with him. so i introduced myself to him; he was as surprised as i was! HA!

sat night i had one of the weirdest pseudo dinner dates EVER in my life. terrible! horrible!! well, if you are in the loop enough, you probably already know, or you can always email me about it! :( it was so sad it made me want to LAUGH!!!! awww...

sunday i worked the entire day at starbucks. the cafe was not packed, but we were really busy. ugh! the day just felt really really long too!!! in the evening i watched 21 grams. quite a depressing movie, but i thought it was alright! movie about how these different groups of people's lives intertwine and interfere when an accident happens. the story was also told without a chronological order, so you would have to be awake to keep track of things... i recommend it.

today, day of memorium-- i wish i had work cuz of the time and a half, and i need that extra $$. but oh well. i went biking along the lake front again; well, BAD choice for this lovely sunny holiday. everyone and their mother and sun were out (literally) and it was extremely hard to bike. then i read by the lake and tried to get some skin cancer. sadly, i am *STILL* pale.

in the afternoon, i made my friend bring me some BBQ ribs. i had been craving for ribs since yesterday; since my friend had to go to his aunt's house to pick up stuff, i had him stop by leon's on the southside for ribs. mmmm.... i ate too too much my tummy hurts!

lastly, ellie called me today and asked if i'd be interested in doing a cruise with her this summer. she heard about windjammer and apparently it's nice and not too pricey and most importantly, without too much family and kids stuff. has anyone been on any cruises? what's a good price to pay for how many days to where?
