happy new year!!

yes, the birthday wknd still continues.

as an unusual occurence, this 2005 new year's eve i went skiing/snowboarding. i have never NEVER skiied or snowboarbed in my life!

wendy convinced me to tag along with sharon and her friends nancy and alice to go skiing in galena. hmmm, how pushy. sharon and co left a lil' earlier in the morning from westmont, and wendy came to pick me up a bit later after she dropped off her parents and thier "butt buddies" at the airport.

galena is about 3 hrs away through much of nothingness. well, there is really nothing outside of chicago in the entire state of IL. of course, we HAD to get a speeding ticket! man, i dont know since when the state trooper/police required cash payment of the ticket on the spot, or one would have to give up the the driver's license until it's mailed back to you in 3 days. ugggh!! of course, wendy didn't want to not have her license, so we had to get $95!!! OMG, what a rip-off!

i decided to start with snowboarding, since wendy wanted to try. we took a lesson. but man, it was a lot harder than i expected, and i think i was just not used to the "speed" that i'd be going, even though it was in actuality very slow. zoom! after i've fallen many many times, i knees really started to hurt. ooooouuuccchhh! getting up from the snow on the freakin' board was hard too. what's with all the roll-overs we had to do!?

HHAHAHAHAA!

bah!

later on, sharon was kind to let me borrow her skis to try. after i got a bit more comfortable, i think it is easier for me to ski than to snowboard!! it felt a lot more like ice skating and even though i was freaked out again when i picked up speed and imposed "voluntary falls," it seemed more enjoyable than snowboarding! i think next time i will take lesson and try skiing!

then we left the ski resort in caravan style. we had dinner at cracker barrel. for some reason their food wasn't as good as i remembered. oh, maybe it's cuz we went before near-closing... i got home past midnight. awww, happy new year. but i was so ass tired, i took a long shower, watched some tv, and went to sleep.

this morning of course i was sore, and unfortunately, i couldalso feel that more pain and soreness are on the way. my knees, especially the left, are red and swollen. mmm, lovely. nevertheless, i had a good time! yay!!!
